Family Newsletter
Welcome EEP Family to the Summer quarter 2006! Lots of news on Events (EEPsters have X-Ray vision?), Accomplishments (Who got into every UC grad school this year?), Announcements (A new GA? A new Erika?) and Reminders (When is Fall Priority Registration?) are included. The EEPC will publish their enhanced version of the Newsletter with lots of pictures and student input. - Dr. Claudia Hsieh M.D- (1999) wrote to say “hi” and will begin her Internship at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier. Claudia graduated from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005.
- Dr. Masha Levhits M.D, PhD (2000) will begin her residency at UCLA in the fall and graduated from University of Washington at St Louis.
- Dr. Chris Chien M.D (2000) is back in L.A to begin his residency at Cedar Sinai this summer after finishing his medical degree at Chicago School of Medicine. He and fellow alum Marc Gayed (2003) visited in June.
- Marc Gayed (2002) (DDS 2007) visited the Lounge and the students on Wednesday June 7th. Marc will spend part of his final year in dental school in rural Jamaica helping to heal underprivileged teeth!
- Siraj Giabani (2005) was accepted to medical school at George Washington, Roseland Franklin Chicago School of Medicine and will begin his studies at Penn State in the Fall.
- Hank Wang (1997) business-owner has been nominated for the 2006 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award by Susan Ngo (2001).
- Alex Carlton (1998) and Joanne Lee (Elder/Grad) were featured at the Tutorial Center’s 2006 Student Staff Recognition & Tutor Certification Ceremony on March 30th.
- Daniel Tamae (2000) who is currently a doctoral student and researcher for the Beckman Group at City of Hope participated in the CSLA’s Career Center’s Career Fair event on April 6th.
- Dr. Aradhna Tripati PhD (1997) a Cambridge scholar was back in L.A to visit the family, friends and stopped by the EEP lounge Friday June 9th to say “hi”. Aradhna noted, “EEPsters seems taller these days so you must be feeding them better!” She was the keynote speaker at the annual CSLA Geology banquet June 11, 2006.
- Dr. Vanessa Sheldon PhD (2002), at 19 was the youngest college professor in the U.S as noted in the press release from the PR department. Vanessa began work at the College of the Canyons as an adjunct faculty member in the Music Department last fall.
- Charys Scotton J.D (2003) wrote with news of finishing law school at University of Pennsylvania and accepted a position at Morgan, Lewis, and Bockius for the Fall. Charys also served as the president of the Black Law Student Association at U Penn.
- Laurie Kaye M.S (2005) Graduated from UCLA School of Public Policy in June with a Master’s in Urban Planning and has accepted a position at Environmental Defense.
- Katherine Chuang (2005) is completing the Master’s in Computer Science (CS) at UCLA while her brother Michael is completing his Master’s degree in CS at USC!
- Jackie Kao (2002) is attending Optometry School in Pennsylvania
- Dr Stephanie Spehar PhD (1997) Fresh from earning her doctorate at NYU and prior to heading out to China to continue her research on Spider Monkeys, attended the WPCT parent meeting and answered many questions.
EEPsters are reminded that many of these EEP Alumni and others have provided the EEPsters with their e-mail addresses for consultation and advisement (in the Student Information Binder) with new additions available at Group Meetings quarterly
